Bangkok is popular for its affordable, high quality tailored suits that can be made within a short time. It’s not my husband’s first time getting a tailored suit, he used to do it frequently during his banking days. We decided to make use of our short 3-day, 2-night trip to Bangkok to get suits made for both of us from Newman Exclusive. The reason he is so keen to get a tailored suit is because of his fit physique, off the shelf shirts and suits don’t satisfy him.
Newman Exclusive
Newman Exclusive has been in this industry for more than 30 years. Previously there were located at Amari Watergate, now they have move to Intercontinental Chidlom Bangkok. We stayed at Holiday Inn Bangkok, so it’s actually just 1 min walk to Newman Exclusive.

Sam is so friendly and he chat with my hubby for awhile before we start making our suit!
Day 1 Of Making A Suit
Step 1: Choosing The Right Fabric
It’s best to share what kind of suit you’re going for, the material, and whether you have any ideas in mind. For me, I shortlisted a few photos I found online and showed them to Sam. Based on the designs, we had a discussion especially about whether the design was possible or practical, since a custom tailored suit is very different from mass production.
As for my hubby, his process was very straightforward. Since he has experience getting suits made, he already had a clear idea of what he wanted.
Sam and his team are very helpful and friendly, and they are really patient in ensuring we get the right color tone that matches our skin. This is especially important for a first timer like me.

Step 2: Measurement
After we decide on our fabric, it’s time for measurements! The process is quite straightforward and very detailed to ensure a custom-tailored fit that enhances your body shape!

The whole process takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Of course, it will take longer if you need more time to choose your fabric.
Day 2 Basted Fitting For Our Suit
Step 3 Basted Fitting
We went back the next day around 2pm for our basted fitting. In this fitting, we need to try on our custom suit, which is temporarily stitched together with white thread. This allows Sam to adjust the measurements if any changes are needed.

During this fitting, it’s best to move around, sit in different positions, and lift or bend your arms to check the fit. This helps reduce the need for alterations at your next visit. So you can get your suit on time!

After the basted fitting, Sam took final measurements, if needed, to ensure everything was correct and to see if anything needed to be tightened or loosened. This one will take about 30mins to 45mins.
Day 3 Collection Of Our Suit
Step 4 Collecting our suit
It’s the day we collect our suit! Our appointment is in the late afternoon, and we were so excited to see the final outcome of our outfit. Since we had already seen our pants, shorts, and my husband’s shirt, we had high expectations for the suit jacket.
And of course we are really happy with it! Below is the showcase of the suit and price breakdown.
My hubby suit
Hubby suit:
Suit – TRW stretch (Wool terylene blend with lycra) 7800 baht
Shirt – TTI (Cotton 68% Rayon 32%) 1200 baht

My suit
My suit:
Jacket and pants – Tweed blend (Tweed wool, terylene and line blend) 7200 baht

We both love the details of the jacket!

We are so happy with the outcome that we took quite a lot of couple photos in the shop.

Tips & Conclusion
- They can make a suit as fast as in one day, but you need to make an appointment with them beforehand. It’s best to avoid weekends, as Sunday is the workers’ rest day, especially if you want to get your suit quickly, like in less than three days. But my personal take is, minimal 3 days will be better for quality!
- I can’t emphasize enough how important communication is! It helps prevent unnecessary alterations and misunderstandings between you and them. So, it’s important to convey your ideas clearly about what you want.
- Take your time to choose your fabric carefully so you won’t be disappointed. Pick something that suits your country’s weather or your event/work. The good thing is, Sam has many clients from Singapore and frequently visits to make clothes for them, so he understands our weather and local trends well!
- They also provide free minor alterations if you loose weight or grow in size.
Overall our experience is good. Sam and his team are really friendly and helpful throughout the process also. If you guys are interested to find out more, you can whatsapp him for more details.
